In Country adoption tips!
1) ALWAYS make sure your driver and you have a clear plan of where you think you are going (He may think differently) AND then, also when/where to pick you up BEFORE you exit the car.
2) when you go to the Embassy, remember, you can't take anything in with you EXCEPT YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR CELL PHONE AT THE FRONT DESK!! DO IT!
3) Keep a piece of paper with important phone numbers (facilitator, friends in town, etc) IN YOUR WALLET in case you lose/are separated from your US phone, computer and Ukrainian cell phone for some reason......
4) Barring complete loss of communication, there are internet cafes where you can go pay some Hrivnas for some time on a computer and there are also pay phones where you can then call your facilitator (once you've looked up his number on your email account in the local internet cafe) who then will say WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!!! and send your driver back to get you.....and you will find out that the entire Embassy was paging you and and and...
.......Not that this ever happened to anyone I know!!!! LOL!
